Stargazer PapillonsTraining Your Papillon!

and quick to please. They can however can have a mind of their own!
These beautiful little "butterfly dogs" are described as friendly and of lively
action. They should be happy and alert. Their temperament should
never be shy or aggressive. Although genetics plays a role in the
temperament of the Papillon, a major factor in the ultimate way your Papillon
behaves has to do with early socialization and training.

What ever method you decide to use, the key to success when potty training your Papillon is confinement and supervision. The instructions on our Litter Box Training page can be adapted to pee pad training, newspaper training, or outside potty training. Just remember, if you can't watch the puppy, it MUST be confined to a small area. Never get angry with your puppy if mistakes are made. Again, your puppy making a mistake is not his fault. You were either not fully watching your puppy or you gave him too much freedom!
